About our Founders
Alia Kafil, Gayeon Koh, and Nicolò Naoni are all Yale Young Global Scholars students. As Yale Young Global Scholars, all three wished to create positive change in their communities and on a global scale. While creating HAPPŸOUTH, the three YYGS students aimed to spread positivity amid a time of confusion, fear, and chaos.
My name is Alia Kafil and I am 16 years old from Morocco. For nearly 6 years, I have debated competitively. Today, I am the team captain of the National Moroccan Debate Team (MNDT). I'm incredibly passionate about finding ways to help my community and empowering young Moroccan women to use their voices to find a platform. Apart from debate and community service, you'll find me reading, drawing, painting, or playing the piano!
